Photographing for Stroll South of Broad brings me into the heart of Charleston’s South of Broad community, where every story feels both personal and inspiring. Meeting Bryce Bunting and his family was one of those moments.

I met Bryce at his family’s beautiful home on a perfect South of Broad day, where the warmth was immediately felt. At 17 years old, Bryce is well known around Charleston for his love of tennis—but his story reaches far beyond the court.

Inspired during the pandemic, Bryce set a remarkable goal for himself: to climb one of the Seven Summits. What began as training walks across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge soon turned into something extraordinary. At just 14 years old, alongside his father, Bryce successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro—a powerful reflection of his determination, discipline, and adventurous spirit.

Photographing Bryce with his family felt especially meaningful. There is a strength and support within their connection that speaks quietly, yet profoundly. It’s clear that behind Bryce’s achievements is not only personal drive, but a foundation of encouragement and love.
