Cathedral of St. John The Baptist
“The cathedral is a truly inspiring subject to photograph.”
I truly enjoyed photographing the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist—it is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Charleston.
Stepping inside, you’re immediately drawn to the stunning stained glass, the soaring ceilings, and the intricate architectural details that create a sense of quiet awe. Located in the South of Broad area, the cathedral feels both grand and deeply peaceful.
Designed around 1890 by Patrick Charles Keely, one of the leading Catholic church architects of 19th-century America, the cathedral is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture. Its presence, history, and craftsmanship make it not only a place of worship, but a truly inspiring subject to photograph.
